Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I hope so!
I was at the mall yesterday, and I walked into one of those places that sells massage chairs and whatnot, and what do you think I saw? Piles and piles of frog habitats. I think its essentially what happened when bettas got really popular- a tiny bowl of water, maybe 4 by 2 inches, with some gravel, a bamboo plant, 2 african dwarf frogs, and what I think was a small apple snail, all sold in a kit. It said the gravel was a natural filter, and that the plant would help keep the water clean. You just change the water twice a year.
The frogs all looked so sick, with
ICH or velvet, and raw patches of skin. They were either gasping at the top for air, or lying sideways on the bottom. I have some pictures that I'll upload soon.
I've never really lodged a formal protest against something like this, but I think we need to nip it in the bud before it becomes the next big fad. I think I'll try emailing the company, but does any one else have any ideas?
