I have seen this done on plantgeek so why not try it here
OK as some of you may have known I got a 5 gallon tank (that is going to be home of a betta and some ottos)from a freiend who could know longer keep it.
Day1) I cleaned the tank and equpiment and boiled 2 rocks
Day 2)washed the gravel put the rocks and 2 plants from my 20 gallon in the tank and started the cycle(fishless)
Day 3)continued the fishless cycle
Speaking of tank journals, I keep a "Fish Diary". It's a small spiral book, it has a place on the front cover for a picture, which I placed a picture of my fish in it, . And every time I changed the water, do a water reading, or generally do anything to my fish tanks, I write it in my Fish Diary. This is a great way to keep up with water changes, and how your fish are doing. I can look back and read about my fish and how they were doing a month or so ago. It's kinda like a "Baby Book" thing.
(days 8-10) water perimeters are as follows pH 8.4 Ammonia 0.50 nitrite & Nitrate 0
added another rock on day 8
after i find card reader pics will be up
Well to day i got some Cory's (couldn't find Otto's ) i was getting all emeralds but i got 2 emerald and 1 peppered because the person got the wrong one
I love the natural gravel look, looks really good. Are you going to stick with fake plants or are you sometime going to get live plants? What about fish, watcha gona keep?
ok my tank readings are really wird
5-29-06 pH 8.0 ammonia 0 Nitrite>0.25 Nitrate 20-40
5-31-06 pH 8.4 ammonia 0 Nitrite 1.0 Nitrate 10
could that much have happend in a day? im glad i didn't put the corys in their yet(im weighting for plants first)
did you do a water change or something? It looks like something upset your cycle and set it back some. Maybe put you into a mini cycle situation. I guess you have some more cycling to do. I am glad you did not have your Cories in there yet too. They don't do well in a partially cycled tank.
