Roger

Well I came home today from a weekend at my boyfriend's place, and I find Roger, my female Kenyi, floating upside down in the tank. I went to fish her out into the holding bucket, to watch her gills, and she was alive... so I had to put her down with clove oil/vodka. There really was no other solution, her fins were torn up from the other fish picking at her while I was away, and she could barely breathe, never mind swim. She's gone now, and I'm going to bury her tomorrow.

I never got a picture of her, and I'm sure not going to take one now that she's gone... it would be a disgrace. She was adorable. She "claimed" the corner of the tank with the sponge filter, and would even chase my biggest cichlid away from it.

I was hoping when I got her and my male Kenyi their own tank that they might breed, but now I just hope she's resting peacefully.

R.I.P. Roger, 5/4/2008. We will miss you.

Thank you for your kind words, guys.
She was suffering, and there was nothing I could do. She seemed a little listless when I left, but I didn't think much of it, and my mother said she wasn't eating over the weekend. Her fins were torn to shreds when I got back, and the algae eaters had obviously gotten to her, too. I just hope she wasn't in much pain after the clove oil bath, so she could die peacefully.
