Gone

Well, we lost our striped peacock eel today.

I found him dead on the bottom of the tank this morning...

We had him since around November. He was very cool, and at times very much the trickster... sometimes we wouldnt see him for a day, and after a long search, low and belold he was hanging out in the filter... crazy little guy...

Anyway... when we purchased him he was fairly robust, but over time he just withered away... to my LFSs credit, he did tell me that eels were difficult to feed and most die within 3 weeks of purchase due to starvation... so, in a way, I was happy we made it all these months, but I feel guilty too, since I know he must not have been the happiest little guy... he ate, dont get me wrong, but very, very little. We tried a whole gambit of frozen and pellets... but I guess he just wanted live food, and we were not able to provide that for him... we tried a few times with worms and fry, but all his other tankmates got to it first...

Anyway - RIP

I'm sorry about your eel.

It makes me wonder if my B. Ghost Knife is getting enough. I don't see him very often, and know he only eats at night......I'll have to work on that more...
