It was my favorite mbuna! It was a scofi (sp) he was so energetic and loving! up until this past week, then my female Kenyi decided to "spawn" and she got aggressive, and she beat the literal crap out of it, and I came home today to find it floating with its eyes almost out of its head barely breathing. All the other mbunas are big enough/tough enough to hold their own against her, and have. I had just doctored this fish back to health after it had malawi bloat a few weeks ago and had a huge ulcer on its side, and it was so sweet, it would hear me come to the q tank and meet me so happilily no matter what I was at the tank for, meds, water change, vaccum, feeding..... and it was the same way in the main tank....
My hubby said he would get me another.... I just don't think I can replace my little blue! I actually cried when I did what I did and still feel awlful for it, but I knew at that point there was no helping it.

Sorry for the double post, I guess I never thought I would get so attached to my fish when I got into the hobby! Know I know what my mother was talking about w/ her african cichlids that she had why she was so dishearted when my stepdad had an accident cleaning the tank and killed everyone of her beloved fish.... I am as attached to those little guys as I am my 30lb ball of fur cat.... (actually more so, shes getting the boot soon)

I'm so sorry you lost your fish pal. You gave him a good life and took care of him as best you could.
He's no longer suffering, and that is a good thing.
When you're ready, you will find another fish who needs your tlc.

That's such a tough thing to do, and we know how you feel. It really hurts to lose one of our pets and the bond with them can be just as strong as any other kind of pet.

I truly feel your pain. I had to do the same with a 5 year old Gourami. It brought a few tears to my eye for sure. I used to feel a little silly when I'd get so bummed at losing a fish. Knowing others feel the same helped me realize it was because I love my fish and not silly at all. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss and can share in sympathy.

Thanks you all.... The tank looks like it has a little empty place w/o him... I actually ordered a fish today, it wasn't another blue, but it will be a tribute... it was a male kenyi for my female....
