Rest in Peace, little Saytang

My littlest Saytang, I have found you dead tonight while doing your water change. I have no idea what happened. All I know is that you didn't eat with your usual appetite 2 days ago.

I have put livebearer fry in your tank to keep it cycled to make sure your successor will have a cycled tank, but it was a really sad moment, and I didn't at all enjoy seeing them in your tank.

Earlier, I had the reflex to come and play with you, and remembered that you weren't there anymore. I hope you don't mind, but I have not given you a funeral. I don't want to be totally depressed about this, as I am already really bogged.

I shall miss you. You were a special fish. I really hope that it wasn't my fault.

I loved that you were so nosy and cheeky, always jumping like a meter high to bite my hand, instead of your food. You were smart also, you really enjoyed your hamster maze.

You were only young, and I don't understand what happened.

You will be missed and remembered.

Love

Your mummy.

Thanks, you guys. I was going to let it slide, but it just felt wrong, so I've written this memorial which, sure enough, got the tears flooding. So I went to make her a little coffin and drew on it the things she liked.

I'll wait for my husband to get back tonight and we'll have a little funeral. She was one of the only fish of mine that he really quite liked - he's a puffer man through and through normally. I think he'll be quite sad too. He used to play with her when he was in the kitchen.

Oh Laure Anne I'm so sorry.. I remember you bringing her home and posting about it... those were the first few posts that started my love affair with bettas.. I'm so sorry. It's so much harder when you just don't see it coming, or you really don't know why or how.

Thanks you guys. We've had a little funeral today. I can't believe how much I sobbed. Incredible how attached I got. I was trying to avoid getting down about it, but some things are just unavoidable. I just need to remember the nice things when I think of her.

It is making me seriously question continuing to buy more fish, as it is so hard to loose them, and it happens so often with fish. It's really tough to loose one you had a special relationship with.

But, I gave her a good life (I hope). I buried her little feeding stick with her. She used to love that thing.

She was so young too. I just don't get it. She was full of peps the days before. I was actually more worried about my other female in another tank.

Oh man, I hope nothing happens to her (she's been looking really bad in the past few weeks).

I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same way when we buried Aslan.

I know how you feel...when I lost Jewel it was odd not to have here little face bobbing up & down at me. But Holly has taken that right over.
She had a good life while with you.
