Please, take the time to go to the Petco website and pull up their address/e-mail and send them a letter, explaining why you will never shop there.
Our silent boycott will hurt them a little, but letting them know why might actually change things. |
thank you for the suggestion....i didn't think of that. excellent idea and i agree....
This is the email i sent to them...
"i just wanted to take a moment to articulate why i will not buy from you chain again until i see improvments made in animal storage and care.
after visiting your wilshire blvd branch several times i have witnessed disgusting neglect and general lack of concern of you tropical fish.
unbeleivably your chain store feels displaying a live creature in a 10 ounce cup of water is appealing? i cant even begin to describe how incredibly ignorant and disgusting this comes across.
my experience today was after entering the store and browsing aquarium supplies i noticed a dozen Betta fish sitting on display in little plastic cups in very small quantities of water. two of the fish had died and appeared to have been dead for quite some time. every single one of the rest of them were extremely close to death.
it appears the problem was simply no one was concered enough to take a moment to change 10 ounces of water.
unfortunately there are many people who work jobs that require care that do not. i'm not asking to change individuals personalities. As a large corporation i expect you to be smart enough to realise this and compensate for it.
theres absolutely no reason you should allow such horrible storage conditions of a live creature in any of your stores. what i mean is you should have the foresight at minimum to create conditions that are at safe for them....at best comfortable.
are you a company that really cares enough to do this?"
