Well spoken....and I agree with what you say. I am relatively new to fishkeeping, and started with bettas. I could not believe a fish could engage me the way they do. Although I also have a 55 and a 10 -( community and guppy grow out) it is the bettas that have stolen my heart. My krib is a close second, and the sailfins, who all have names. Seems with me once I name them, I am a goner.
Today I bought 3 more red eye tetras for my 55, to build the shoal to 7...no names, but they are a really beautiful fish. The ones I got today are tiny little mites, and it amazes me how they all come togther, let the little ones know they are at the bottom of the pecking order, and then carry on.
I just lost my bad boy Wink, and today was tearing down his tank,

and can't believe how emotional it was for me. Even my husband is saddened by his passing and we have been talking of all the funny and naughty things he did, day after day.
This is the thing I like best about this forum, I can express being gutted at the loss of a fish, and no one thinks I'm nuts - well..maybe.
Thanks for your heartfelt post - I can truly relate - even if my heart isn't crushed by all of them, I can and do wonder at the beauty of each and every fish.
RIP little Wink Jack Sparrow!

back at you!
Val
