RIP my little white one

This is a memorial to my gentle white female molly, who passed away this morning. I am crying as I write those words. She was really special. Never aggressive, always gentle. She was the first to start follow me around after coming to live with us.

Your time with us was too short. You were only with us for 3 months, but I grew enormously attached to you. More than I'd imagined.

I just made you a little box, and put you in the garden where we said our last goodbyes.

I hope I was right to let you go, rather than let you go on suffering.

RIP, my gentle little friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. That is one livebearer that I have never had.

Thanks, Tom. It's the first time it's ever hit me so hard.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear about that! Take comfort in knowing that she was lucky to have you as a fishkeeper/mom.

Well I hope that I didn't actually contribute to her demise. We're still not sure what's happened, and it's either a vitamin defficiency, or TB.

those little livebearers are great pets and they do have personalities and characters that can make them special. your girl sounds like a wonderful one and i can understand why you would mourn her. all good pets deserve that.

Thanks, Carol and Dave. Yes, she was really special. Not one I wanted to see go first. She was so innocent and never aggressive. I just think it's a bit unfair and she deserved a longer, fuller life. But hey, disease is not about justice.

hello Armadillo
my heart breaks for you... loss and sadness is such a horrible thing to endure, and it doesnt matter if its a fish or a dog or a cat. We do love and get attached to our pets and especially the little ones, our fish that cannot take care of themselves and depend on us to support them.
You DID the right thing... remember that. It was out of love that you did not want the molly to suffer anymore. Its a hard choice to make.. but in the end, after the sadness has passed you will know in your heart that you did the right thing and that lil molly would have just suffered more til its end anyway. You spared it a life of misery and pain, as Im sure her scolioses was painful.

take heart...that you were wise enough to know what needed to be done humanly and had the courage to follow through.

Thanks so much, Kate. As time passes, you're right, I feel comforted that she is no longer suffering.
