What are the names of these fish...

When i bought this fish, unfortunately, i didn't take note of the exact name!

Heres a pic of my male swordtail. What i'd like to know is what type of sword is it and will it get more colourful as it grows?
He's got a green tail outlined in black and slight green/redish lines on his sides. Otherwise his plain, slightly transperent
My pic are bad ,i know, how do you guys get such wonderful pics? my fish dont stop for a moment!!

Thanks...

Re: What are the names of these fish...

That second fish looks & is described just like a swordtail that I have. It was bought at wal-mart & was labeled as a green sword. I don't believe they get as big as some other swordtails & the color seems to stay the same. Though it isn't very colorful, I bought two females of the same species to go with him. His interaction with the females is well worth their lack of color in my opinion. He is constantly darting in front of them waving his pretty tail & backing up to them at a speed that I had never seen before from an aquarium fish. Very fascinating to watch!

Mexican Green Swordtail.....That backing up is him wanting to get it on......Watch out for pregnant swordtails pretty quickly....And the other appears to be a white cloud tetra...Does it have an addipose fin? Are the anal fins and dorsal fins also red and does it have a stripe down the side?

Ummm thanks for that explanation of the swordtail backing up Vin. I knew that , I just didn't want to be the one to explain it. lol

The females ARE pregnant, but they're in a 55 gal. community tank along with other live bearers & egg layers. So far nothing in the way of eggs or fry have survived. Thank goodness!

Sorry, I dnt know where is the addipose fin... Only his tail is orange all the rest of the fins are transparent.

The sword, i've one female exactly the same as the male and yes she's pregnant. Actually i thought i was buying 2 females, an orange and the other but it's a male molly i think... and i'm returning it.

Looks to me like it might be a black neon or a penguin...The addipose fin is a single fin that is just behind the anal area. All characins have them.

If your talking about the newest one, it is an emperor tetra. It's not a black neon because b.neons have red eyes, this one has blue eyes, meaning it is an emperor tetra.
This is a form of it.

oh yeah - cool. I didn't think it was an emporer because I couldn't see the long dorsal fin.

Fopr empoer tetras ou don't need to see the fins really, I think they are the only fish that have that coloration of blue in the eyes.
