| Smallest fish you can think of I would like to know what the smallest tropical fish is
(Or any small fish). I know about neon tetras. Is there any other fish that is super small when fully grown?
I don't mind rare. I'm not talking like one little pond in africa has them and thats IT, but if only a few stores in the US have them then that works.
Thanks. |

| Ember tetras and microrasboras also come to mind. Those fish CPDs are great fish for small tanks if you can find them. |

| Did you use a shrink ray on your Puffers John? They should get substantially bigger than that.
The smallest fish that I am aware of is Paedocypris Progenetica. Not really an aquarium fish though. It's a relatively new discovery & is only about 8mm long. They simply don't come any smaller. Dwarf Rasboras are the smallest fish I'm aware of that is commonly available. They get to about 1". |

| I agree with jgon! Dwarf puffers are awesome little fish. They're sooo tiny when you get them at the store. About the size of a pea. And they're puffers! which in my mind is great because they are my favorite type of fish. Also called pygme puffers, bb puffers, pea puffers. |

| Oh and nutter, they are pretty small. I've read maximum size to be an inch. Which means most probably won't even get that big. Check em out though. They're neat!
Keep in mind however that these little guys need about 5gal each. This is because they can be aggressive hence they are puffers... I guess it all depends on the batch you get though. I have seen them very peaceful to very aggressive and chasing around any other fish. This includes huge angels... lol |

| What are classed as Dwarf Puffers in my neck of the woods get to about 2 1/2" each. There are two fish over here that get called dwarf puffer. There is Tetraodon Lorteti that I have seen up to closer to 3" & there is Tetraodon Steindachneri which I have seen just over 2". They are most commonly sold at the 1" mark over here. |

| Uh-oh, now I have ideas for fish that I don't have room for (small as they are). The second I have enough room, I am getting a dwarf puffer, they are soo cute!!
But the celestials are nice too, and the sparkling gourami (Contemplated a dwarf gourami, but ended up with something else instead, these guys are even smaller though).
Stop being such dirty enablers! And yes, I'm favouriting this thread, don't judge me haha! |

| @Tiger and nutter...
Here is a web site devoted to the little guys. http://www.dwarfpuffers.com/
I think they might be incorectly I.Ding the puffers at your LFS nutter.
Oh and read up tiger! They are puffers, this means feed them teenie tiny snails every so often to file down their teeth (most LFS's will give you them bc they consider them pests). Also there is good info such as keep about one male per female to calm aggression etc.
good luck! |

| Dario dario (scarlet badis)? I like them, the males are 0.8 inches long, the females at 0.5, and they're really colorful, too! |
