ok its an amazon sword but... just what is growing out of it? It's like a beanstalk and has little pods!

Sounds like it's shooting off runners. That's how they reproduce. You'll see a baby plant on the end of the stalk eventually. Congrats- your plant is happy.

If it is runners, new plants will form at the end of the runner complete with leaves & roots. Once you think they are large enough, simply snip them off & plant them like any other plant.

Flowers! That's what you are getting out of your sword plant.

Hello Joesmo,

I can't get your link to work in post #3. I've attached a link to Amazon Swords. Scroll down almost halfway and you'll see a photo with a caption that reads "amazon sword babies on mother plant.

Does it match yours?

Yep that's an amazon sword( right click on the box and tell it to open) with a daughter plant growing. If you look really close you will see tiny white flowers. If you wait until the baby is at least an inch long it will be easier to plant. What I do is leave it connected to the mother plant and bend the stalk down and plant the baby in the substrate. Then in a week or so I clip the stalk from the baby plant. Sometimes you will get more than one baby from a stalk. Congrats!
