What fish is this?

I am interested in buying this used fish tank but It comes with this fish and I don't know what it is and neither does the person who is selling it. Any ideas?

That looks suspiciously like a pacu...those MASSIVE (I mean 3 feet) lunkers that are technically vegetarian pirahnas (but don't think they're not aggressive)

Definitley a Pacu. A Brown Pacu, (Myleus Pacu), if I had to take an educated guess. I'm not aware of any varieties that get to 3ft but I don't know every fish out there so there may be some that do get to that sort of size. The Brown Pacu gets to about 8-10". Not as aggressive as a Pirahna but the jaws are very powerful so care needs to be taken not to get your finger in the wrong place.

Good morning,
I vote for Pacu too. My brother had two Pacu's (sorry don't know which kind) and they grew to 26" and too large for his 125g tank.
Best of luck!

Curiosity got the better of me so I did a search for large Pacu. Turns out there is one that gets up to around 3ft long. The Black Pacu (Colossoma Macropomum). So I stand corrected. What a beast of a fish. How awesome it would be to have a tank large enough for one of those babies. I'm still pretty sure the one in the pic is a Brown Pacu though so it would stay much smaller than the Black Pacu.

Hers a pic we took of one at the Aquarium in myrtle Beach, dont know if its the same kind but it would take a massive tank to keep one comfortably. Thats my daughters heads in the foreground and I guess their heads are about the size of a soccer ball lol

I would say Pacu. There probally trieing to sucker somone into buying it so they wont have to deal with it anymore. Maybe see if thers an aquarium near you that will take it.
