Good catch.
Does any one know what i could feed it so he could be more rich in color. I seen others that are super bright yellow with a bit red under the mouth section.
so far he is eating blood worms as he enjoys them. |

as well, they are predatory fish and dont always play nice with others so keep a close eye on that crowded tank...he can reach a foot long and will most definately outgrow a 55g pretty fast...and they are huge jumpers so keep everything covered... |

| i had all my fishes since they were babies and what im super glad is that they all get along very well. The only one that i really need to always keep an eye out is for the needle fish. If i don't feed him on time he has an eye for the Rosy barb. I am constantly making sure he is always feed and acting on his best behavior.
I am planning on getting rid of the needle fish sometime soon as i don't want him to eat the rest of the fish at any point in the future. |

| I know its hard to hear about the fish we raise and their tank specs
I had to rehome 2 of my most amazing oscars after having them 8 years...it broke my heart...but I knew my house didnt have room for a proper tank ( I live in a small ranch house) you have 3-4 fish that have a potential to be over a foot long...in a 55g tank, they wont make it and can be stunted severely as they grow...im glad thing have worked out so far tho!!!! |

If you still decide to rehome him in the end, hope it's for the best and he'll enjoy his life there. But if possible, try getting him his own tank. We all feel hurt whenever we give fish away, experienced it... Good luck and nice fishies you have! |

and yes i am planning on rehoming the needle fish but if i am to rehome him he has to go to a house that i can trust. i mentioned it to my close friends and family to see who would take him. One might be interested as he enjoys seeing him eat the minnows. i told him he its minnows now but gold fish once he is fully grown.
I have been thinking alot in getting him a big tank just for him that way i don't have to rehome him. hmmm maybe i could have other compatible big fishes in there or anything that works out.
pretty soon i will be changing out all the decor in my tank as i am switching themes. i will be doing it slowly and during regular water maintenance that way the fishes do not freak out.
but re-homing a fish is soooooo hard specially when you love your fishes and you enjoy there company. They make your tank look sooo alive and unique.
i have a question. when re-homing is not possible, what other services are out there? Last edited by Lucy; December 23rd, 2009 at 11:09 AM.

| Thinking of selling Needle Fish Im thinking of trying to sell the needle fish.
I just re-home him to my upstairs tank as he became more aggressive with the fishes in the tank that he was in.
As of right now the needle fish is a pretty good size i would say 7 to 8 inches long.
how much would he be worth.
Petsmart told me that i was pretty much better off selling him for alot more than the purchase price because he is bigger rather than turning him in for store credit at a local fish store.
What do you guys think.
---this bottom picture i just added is a bit old but pretty much shows the needle fish. i would say its anywhere between close to 2 months old pic--- |
