what kind of apistos are these?

howdy all,

I want to breed these little wonders, but i dont know if they are the same kind or not. when i put them together it didnt seem to work out well for the little male, the girls from pic 2 just chased him around. i have 2 girls the same as pic 2 and 3 girls the same as pic 3 and 1 male from pic 1

1
2
3
the 3 girls from pic 3 are smaller than the male so he isnt getting hassled, but now im confused one which fish is what type.

The fish in pictures 1 and 3 will breed. Pic 1 is cockatoo male orange flash and Pic 3 is cockatoo females.
Picture 2 fish you said before, the fish store said the were borelli's. I'm not sure about that but they are not cacatoides species, but are one of the apisto's.

So, you can breed the fish in pictures 1 and 3 together.

im gald ur here ted, couldnt get pics on other site, pics need to be shrunk too much and its a hassle. the borelli was the silver one i posted on the other ID post. pic 2 isnt him. that first original male i was gona breed(that died ) seemed to like the girls from pic 2. but they didnt seem to like to new liitle male i put in with them and i think they were the same kind of males. maybe its a size issue. he is really small. give him a cpl of months and hopefully he'll get there. he is deffinately interacting better with the 3 girls from pic 3, but they are also smaller than him so im sure that helps as well. im just glad i have some girls to keep him company and not hassle him as the other 2 would have stressed hiom out and killed him for sure. i put em back into the 3 footer and after a few face off's its back to normal in there.

Sorry....stick with the cockatoos in one tank. Well planted and lots of cover. As I have said, when they spawn the females will get nasty. 3 females in your tank with him are even too many. A trio would be fine usuallt..1 male and 2 females. Let the other apistos grow out you could accidently have something great!!! Lots of fish stores are very poor at id ing these fish and mix them up frequently. Wish you weren't so far, I have some nice Inka 50 to get rid of...one breeding pair and at least 10 females, and expect some sleeper males in that mix of fems.

nice one, yeah USA is too far lol. I'm probably going to take the smallest one out and put back in the 3 footer. i got plenty of hidy hole so she can deff get away, but iwill watch em closely anyways to make sure no one is stressed out. i think he is too young to breed, but they look like theyre ready. looks like they have swallen egg belly's. well not the littlest one but the biggest one might?? ive put more stuff in the tank. i'll post the pic on that other breeding post. anyways thanks for the ID help Ted, i hope your right, the other two i have deff didnt like him.

Also i have this little boy what is he?

he's a tiny bit bigger than the flash and he had a face off witht the 2 girls and seems to have come out on top. i think he will do well in that tank.

He is a cockatoo triple red!!! name because he has red markings on dorsal caudal and anal fins (3). Same as your Orange flash. Now though, you can't tell if your females are the orange or triples..doesn't matter unless you were breeding for just the orange flash.

It would help if you merged your 2 threads...rather than posting on both similar info. I'm not sure if you can do it or a moderator does??
