Hello Fishingman. The Common Pleco can grow to 18" so you "do" in fact have one of the larger species. Too, I agree about the one photo being a Crayfish. If it is a Crayfish and in the same tank with the Pleco I would be worried. Crayfish will eat anything they can get their little claws on.

Hey Ken look at the pleco pic....you can see what looks like bristles.... looks to be a male bristlenose pleco.
I agree, I don't think it's a common. I see definite "bristles" or whatever they're called. I don't know if there are different types of bristlenose or bushynose or such, but def. not a common.

The second pic I can see the bristles, so I agree it is not a common plec. The first pic looks just like the crawdads we used to pull out of the canal. It will eat any fish that are the same size or smaller than it is - including the pleco.
