it was simply labeled 'female gouramis'

im wondering what species this is? ive been searching around pictures and i cant seem to find anything that looks like my new fishie!

i came upon this beauty quite by chance, popped into a petcetera (which i dont normally do) because they are blowing everything out. fish are buy one get one free.

ooooooooh, i think you are right capekate! looks like a paradise gourami. Thank you!. She seems to be getting along well in my 55 gallon community, which now that i have read up on them, may be a small miracle. LOL. so far the two gouramis are getting along fine though (i have a pearl gourami that is much much larger then the paradise), they are both female, maybe that will help. so far no tetras have been consumed not sure where the cherry shrimp have gone though lol

Your welcome.. and yes, it does look like a female doesnt it? At least in the photos her coloring does not look as bright as a males. They can be pretty nasty for sure, so just keep an eye on your tetras, hopefully in the 55 it has plenty of room to roam and will leave the smaller fish alone.
O O maybe your cherry shrimp are just hiding out?

and as i continue to read up on them...It would appear that "rosalie" is a MALE. guess he needs a new name. females have a rounded tail.

the colours are brighter in person, those photos arent that great.
