| couldn't I at least keep em for a little while? until they got bigger? they seem alright at the moment, I only have 3 other fish in there, a tiny frog and my pleco
which comes up to a total length of 13" which means there are 16 gallons of unused space.
so add the new fish onto that (5" and 3-4"), that leaves about 7 gallons of free space to grow for the new big ones, since all my other fish are fully grown.
it won't hurt them will it? FOUR of them were crammed in a 10 gallon at the LFS, and almost all of there other tanks were empty, which tells me that no one had bought them out of all there other stock for at least 1 week, UNLESS someone decided they were too big for their own tank and brought them back, but IDK. |

| also, I don't know if this helps or is completely irrelevant, but they DO blink, so they have eye lids or something, which I thought was weird. |

Maybe since they have all the empty tanks they will give them a bit more room.
IF your not comfortable with taking them back try to find an appropriate home for them on craigslist. Just make sure the person buying them is a knowledgeable fish keeper and has the tank space. |

| either way they are going to be big kids...and deffinately need a larger tank...the one big boy now already looks timid enough ...and if they are a pacu or silver dollar, both are usually huge eaters and by now they should be wanting food 24/7 ..how are they doing today? |

| Just got off the phone with former colleagues (breeder, farmer) and asked about Siver Pacu thinking something new in my absence. Hardy Ha! No such thing!!
Definitely not Red Hook (M. rubripinnis) since it's missing Red Hook (anal fin) which gives its common name.
Whatever it may be, they are nice! Hopefully, they will show more characteristics which may asist in IDg as they grow.
btw, Pacu I am referring is Colossoma Sp.which has darker gray body color even at 2-3"" and seen juvie patterns (spots) occassionally but very seldom.
Mylossoma/Metynnis/Myleus are NOT condidered as Pacu in Fish industry.
I wouldnt give up such rare/gorgeous specimen yet although do agree in accommodating in larger/longer tank. |

The RedHook Pacu, is a Myleus Rubripinnis. So Myleus is indeed a Pacu. I did not think the above fish was a red hook btw, just wanted to use that one as an example of a silver colored Pacu.
I will accept that your colleagues have much more experience and knowledge than I on the Pacu tho.
Yes, the Colossoma Sp has the darker grey body.. But I did not think the above Pacu was a Colossoma due to the lack of the grey body coloring. I have seen the red belly Pacu at a number of fish stores and they were silver in body coloring. |

2. Cucumber slice
3. Romaine lettuce
4. Freeze Dried TUBIFEX WORMS

| Hi kayin
it looks like you have all the bases covered. Im not sure why your fish are not eating unless they still have to acclimate to their new surroundings.
Its scary when the fish dont eat and we have no idea why, I had a Discus that did the same thing and it seemed to last for five days til it finally started to eat.
Just keep trying to feed them and eventually hopefully they will get hungry enough and will eat.
Have you done a water test since you brought them home? Water changes? With the pleco as well, that tank is going to get polluted quickly.
Maybe others can give you some tips on what to try feeding them.
Best of luck. |

| alright, there was a massive water change about 3 days prior to getting them, probably about 70%, because I had to move the tank, I'll go ahead and do a parameter test. |

| I'm thinking silver dollar. I googled silver dollar fish images and found a couple that look like yours.
Live aquaria has them for sale: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...22&pcatid=2522
Badman's tropical fish has several pictures - looks like there is a wide variety in their coloring and markings. Scroll down and click on 'additional species photographs': http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile23.html
If this is what they are, the websites all say that they love green foliage/plants. Maybe try some romaine lettuce anchored by the stem so it stands up like it is growing? |
