Can you identify these?

I'm hoping some one can tell me what kind of fish this is. I took up cleaning my son's pre school fish tank, and these are in there along with some Corys. I've spent a few hours looking, and the closest thing I can find is an endler's guppy. But they still arent that close.

Also, is there a way to keep cory's and these from breeding. Its only a 20 gallon tank, and there are at least 11 corys that I could count (13, but I took the 2 largest out and brought them home to live with my platys.) The un-named fish are pretty small, 1/2 to 1 inch max, but there is at least the same amount of them in the tank. We live in a very small town, 2 hours from Reno, and trying to sell/give fish away here would be a bad idea I think. We don't have a store that sells anything for them other than wal-mart.

My guess would be 'wild' guppys or endler / guppy hybrids

This is asn endler/guppy hybrid http://www.fishlore.com/fishforum/me...8-endlers1.jpg

Oh and Hi and welcome Nice job sorting the tank out.

welcome to fishlore

they look like possibly a guppy/endler cross or something like that. generally cories will eat the eggs/fry so that shouldn't be too big of a problem for you if you just let nature take its course

Yes Lucy thats a hybrid I picked up from a 'feeder' tank he is not in a breeding tank but he is a part of the Family tank I also went back and rescued his brother.

They are from feeder ponds so he will be a hybrid or a Wild type, best guess is a hybrid. Anything coming from one of those ponds needs a bit longer QT than normal LFS fish because of the conditions they are kept in.

Best guess would be who ever set up the tank that the OP is sorting out now bought their fish from feeder tanks to keep costs down and being live bearers they have just carried on breeding and keeping their strain going.

Now if I lived anywhere near Reno I would gladly take a few of them it is getting hard to find wild types in the UK these days.

Ooops, I edited my post...take a look, it shows the different types of guppy tails.

In my unexpert opinion, waya81's guppies look like what they're calling a Top Sword Tail

Thank you. So a top sword wild guppy, good to know. I'm not sure how long the tank has been established. One of the teachers asked for a volunteer to help clean them because she had no idea how to do it. Apparently the teacher from a previous year had taken care of them. All this teacher had done was add water when it looked low. But despite all that, they are thriving.
