It looks like some kind of Platy or Mollie, although I've not seen one that colour before! It's a great looking fish!

LOL

have looked everywhere to try and find it. it shares characteristics of a balloon molly (got a smaller hump tho but has the upturned 'nose' and has a platy rear end ) but i havent a clue. .... none in the fish shop when i've been back and drew a blank from them when i asked.

But it was free so shouldnt complain and tis a peaceful easy fish.

Could it be a hybrid?

it was tiny when it sneaked in the danio bag, really tiny....and am not sure what else was in the tank at fish shop... ah well, i will just cherish her as an individual lil.... if she ever has babies i will know she is a livebearer which narrows it down, esp as she shares with swordtails and platies...hummm

The fish in the photo looks like an Australian Rainbow, not a Boesemani tho, not with the dot on the side. It has the right body shape, and the stripes going along the body as well are rainbow characteristics. But the dot on its side throws me off for a positive ID. Its very possible that it is a hybrid of sorts.
Very nice fish, and I would be curious to see it as it grows, please keep us updated with photos on this little guy!

I wished there was a better picture of the fins. It doesn't look like a livebearer to me.

That's a beautiful fish! American Flag Fish! Are they commonly available in US?
Thanks for sharing. You got a pretty good picture there.

It's a Killifish... do these fish have a short life-span?
