| | Fish Keeper | Ok. IMO 5 inch is too big for a Jewel, plus he doesn't really look the same. I would expect a JD to still be growing fairly fast at 5 inchs, but a Terror would be approaching adult size at 5inchs, and growth might have slowed. This is all just theory, but I'm still saying a Green Terror! |

| | Fish Bum | So is there like a sub-species category for Green Terrors? Because this is the pic. of a GT that I found: http://www.cichlids.com/pictures/pic...et_bigger.html Some of them look different then others, but I can't find any that look similar to mine, except for the pic. that Amanda posted. |

| | Fish Keeper | That one is an exceptionally great looking Green Terror showing it's full colours. Cichlids can turn there colours on and off. Colours are also affected by living conditions and stress. Many Cichlids don't show there colours properly when young either. I'm 99% sure that you have a Green Terror there. |

| | Fish Keeper | Some Green Terrors can be an absoloute nightmare, some are fine. Just keep an eye out for aggression! |

| | Fish Keeper | i think it's neither. GT should show soilid green/metallic stripe/line across cheek. JD is usually dark color than this. JD forehead is not as high as this and body is thicker than Geophagus.
This fish resembles one of first fish I had/bred (20-30 yrs ago). A Earth Eater, Geophagus brasiliensis (Scientific name may have been changed since I had them) or Hybid b/n other Earth Eater. May show wide color/pattern depending on origin of locations. |

| | Fish Master | It does have the line, it's very faint, but it's there. |

| | Fish Keeper | Meant Stripes/lines on GT (not faint lines. All the GT I bred/raised had distinct stripes/lines as Juv/adolescent.. Besides even young GT have either faint/bright orange on the edge of tail.
Check the pics of G. brasiliensis, so called Pearl Eartheater.
Even though pic does not show entire body shape b/c the angle pic was taken. General body shape and tail color are of Geophagus brasiliensis rather than JD/GT.
Color of lips are slightly orangish on G. brasil and more intense/bright orangish/reddish (like lipstick on) on G. steindacneri.
It has been so long, cant recollect details as I used to but it appears Geophagus or its hybrids. Last edited by cerianthus; February 1st, 2009 at 08:29 PM.
