This is a community tank at work and everyone in the IT dept picked out a fish or two for the tank. One of my co-workers picked out these two orange fish. They are very peaceful but was curious to know exactly what they are...

Sorry for the bad photo, taken with my iphone. I will try to bring in my camera tomorrow if needed.

I kind of agree, but the tail fins on the one on the left don't look like the platy fins I've seen. Platies seem to have rounded tails. That one has a sharp "V"
I don't know a lot about platies, though. I just don't really like them. So I could be completely ignorant of their different tail types.

The shape of the body looks tetra to me. But I have not found any tetras that have that solid coloring. But i have seen plenty of platys that do have that coloring.

Maybe they were in the process of turning, so their tails are turned away slightly?

They are not very photogenic but I snagged a couple shots that might help. Still kind of blurry because its with the phone, but the basic shape is there as well...

Definitely serpae tetra...
still not sure on the golds. They have platy/mollie face but barb tails...did you check out the link on the albino tiger barb? Do they look similar?

The tail looks like that which is considered pointed?

Yeah looks like it might be the barb, although one of them has this really dark spot in its stomach. But I would wager a guess that they are Tiger barbs based off that picture.

They are not mollies or platies then. Must be a fancy type of barb.
