A plethora of plecos (and one mbuna), but what kind?

My new tank has quite a mix of fish in it! In order to decide who stays and who goes, I must first identify them. I know very little about bottom feeders, so I hope someone can help me ID these cuties. I *think* the big black one is an Asian Giant Upside-Down catfish, but I have no idea about the others. The cichlid kind of reminds me of a johanni. Could someone please help me out?

1. Upside down cat
2. Common pleco
3. Some sort of syno?
4. Royal pleco (not sur ewhich l number. not to familiar with them)
5. ?
6. Royal pleco (same as above)
7. Queen arabesque - l260

Thanks, Cory. The people who sold me the tank called #5 and #8 (same fish) a "rhino pleco." ??

#1 is Mystus leucophasis or asian upside down catfish
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...?species_id=21
#2 looks to be a common Plec (Pterygoplichthys pardilis)
http://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/co...article_id=366
#3 is Synodontis eupterus
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...p?image_id=155
#4 is L190- Royal Pleco or Panaque nigrolineatus
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...species_id=151
Are the two in the next post different fish or just different shots of teh same fish ?

None of those are Rhino Plecos(Pterygoplichthys scorphus) sorry.
Cory I respectfully disagree on the Queen Arabesque I don't think there is enough white there.
maybe this one L066 scribbled Pleco ?

Yes, I did some repeats in the second post. I figured the first response would be "do you have any better pictures?"

Picture four in post one is the same fish as picture two in post two.

One and four in the second post are the same fish.

Picture two in first post is the same fish as picture three in post two.

After looking at the links, I agree about the Panaque nigrolineatus, the Asian catfish and the Synodontis eupterus, but I'm not sure about the other two.

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for your help!

np this is fun
After seeing the better picture I think it is the L190 scribbled pleco instead of common pleco.

Well, as long as everyone is having fun I will try to get some better shots of the two as of yet unidentified fish tomorrow! They tend to latch on to the front of the tank, so they are hard to photograph at any angle but "belly."

The others are far more active - especially the big Asian one. She moves almost constantly! We've nicknamed her the dorkfish.

Cool! Can't wait for pics Sometimes the belly angle helps ID plecs so those are welcome also

Here are two more. I never truly appreciated the pictures in the "fish of the month" posts until I tried to photograph my own. This is not easy! <laugh>

Right before I started taking pictures the smaller one was laying on top of the bigger one - just hanging out. I wish I'd gotten a shot of that.

The cichlid is a Melanochromis johannii and very aggressive. Should be kept in ratios of 1 male to 4 females

Thank you, Allie. I did some reading on the johannii and I see he's as aggressive as my Ps. elongatus. He's gonna need a new home! My husband is still insisting we keep them all - amazing how quickly he became attached. I sense another tank in my future!
