Help identify this fish...???

About two months ago, I found several of these guys in my tank. Only one has apparently survived. I haven't the slightest clue what this fish is. At the time I have mollies, platies and guppies in a 20 gal. The only female, as far as I know, was a guppy, the rest were male.

After 2 months, however, guppies are much bigger than this and have their color coming in on their tails. So, I'm lost as to what the he*l this thing is!!!!

Here's some pics:

The second pic shows my dwarf gourami with the little guy for a sense of scale.

Any help is much appreciated!

The pics are hard to tell by but it looks like a baby platy. I have one right now that is about the same size. I had 4 but only one survived being with larger fish

Let me also say, the only femal in the tank at the time was a female guppy, as far as I know. I only have 1 platy and he's a male, and I'm pretty sure both my mollies are males. Could it be a guplatty? Or a golly?? LOL....

Hi!

It has the body-shape of a Black molly, but orange colouring. I say it's a Molly - I dunno how it got there!

Platies and guppies can't cross.

Mollies and guppies can cross and if you have no female mollies and do have female guppies the likelyhood is that you have what is referred to as either a muppy or a golly. If that is the case then you have a sterile fish. All molly/guppy crosses ever studied, to my knowledge, have been sterile. (kinda like the horse and donkey making a mule. Mules are sterile.)

Interesting. Any idea on why it has taken two months for him to grow to just under an inch?

probably because he was fighting for food and running(uh swimming ) for his little golly life because he is in a tank with big scary fishys

THAT IS NOT A PLATY!
That is a fish most people would like to call...a mollie.
I am surprised so many thought it was a platy.

Eh it looks like it could be a yellow mollie.
There are so many color strains, its tough to tell any more.

Yes, that does look like a molly! Platys are shorter and more round. Hope it survives!
