It might be a long finned danio, but the pic is small and I might be wrong. Cute fish though.

They don't all look like that, it could be a lack of nutrients, poor breeding, poor quality for a home, maybe even fish TB. I am no accusing you of anything, I am just saying that those are what usually cause a fish to go like that.

If the fish came with the tank it could be the results of poor care from the previous owner. When some people get rid of tanks it is because they have just been sitting there and no maintenance has been done on the tank . Hopefully they will get healthier now that they have you to take care of them

Just feed it some live foods, if possible, and lots of frozen bloodworms and frozen brine shrimp and in about a month of healthy eating, and lots of water changes, it should start to look more like a zebra danio than it does now.

Thanks for all of the help. I got the tank from a single 65 year old woman who did not really want to part with them because she has had them for over 1 year. Her 17 year old grandson had a very serious accident and broke his back and id paralyzed. So with all of her travel, a move, and she fell on the ice and hurt herself I think it was just too much. The water tests great and the tank and all of the equiptment was clean. They seem healthy and active with a great appitite.

Thanks again

I had a fish exactly like that for a short time (except the hump was a lot worse). I had gotten it from a lady who was going to flush all her fish so I took them in. (she had several fish in a 10 gallon, including a 7 inch pleco, so im sure they weren't getting very good care).

They are really cool fish and they eat like pigs. They are very active. I just love the the long lacey fins.

We had zebra danio who had a huge hump too. It was odd.

Well at least I'm not the only one! It was disgusting... it looked like someone bent it in half.

After doing some research I found out that it is a common problem with danios who are not fed enough live food while growing up. I found some good studies done by several marine biologists. It may be to late to correct their deformities now but I will try anyway.

That'd be a longfinned zebra danio. It obviously has a deformed back, either injured in transfer or a birth defect.
