It definitely looks like a characin. It might be a Lemon Tetra. You might check the Tetras listed at fishbase.org, which doesn't seem to be loading right now.

It is not a tetra at all. It is either a barb, danio, or a rainbowfish. It doesn't have that little fin that only tetras and catfish have.

I agree with Tom, I have several lemon tetra and the coloring of the fish posted is quite different.

The first thing I thought was buenos aires tetra but then I looked more closely and it does have weird finnage, a very long base to the dorsal fin and no adipose. Somehow it doesn't look like a barb or danio to me, but it could be a species I haven't seen before. Otherwise I'd take a slightly wild guess and say it's a rainbow. Do you know how big it is?

If it isn't a giant danio, then it is some sort of rainbowfish.

I'm not sure...the fish in Kabir's post looks like it has a thicker body and bigger fins, and a black mark on the tail which I've never seen on a giant danio. Or could it be some sort of "fancy" variety of danio?

It reminds me of the Devario species or a bitterling. I would lean more towards the Devarios though.
