They are both some type pf barb or cyprinid. I think Callum is right in regards to the second one, but I have no idea what the first is. Sorry.

It can't be a tetra/characin, it doesn't have that special fin between the dorsal and caudel fins, at the moment, the name of the fin escapes me.

Maybe, but I'm not too sure. The only thing that makes me think it isn't, is the red in the gill area at the front of the head. I think it might be either NH3/4 or it is missing the gill cover which is more likely.

Well the first one should be a barb. My LFS guy told me that the first one was a barb but he wasn't exactly sure what barb it was. It is about 3 inches long and very active. About the second one, LFS guy told me it was a tetra but again he wasn't sure about its name. So i bought 4 pairs of it. Right now, seven of them are about one inch long and one of them is about one and a half inch long.

I am 100% certain the second is a rosy barb or a neon rosy barb:

the color of the fish in the 2nd pic makes me think gold barb...but the shape and markings make me think rosy barb...as they get older, their true colors should show

1st pic- albino tiger barb (http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...fm?pCatId=1002)
