While transferring my two newest Catfish acquisitions from the quarantine tank they were in to their new home, they started making a chirping kind of noise!.. does anyone have experience with this type of Catfish?.. I haven't any pix, but they're dark brown with light brown stripes running along the length of their bodies and on each side of their torso also running down the length, are a row of tiny spikes.. any help identifying these fish?

You nailed it Carol.. thanks for the link.. I don't have to tell you how high I jumped when I first heard the sounds these fish were making, do I?.. even now I'm morbidly fascinated by the little buggers and keep glancing at them out the corner of my eye in case they grow wings and start flying around like roaches, which Buzz and I both hate!..LOL.. I'm a bit of a 'Nervous Nelly' right now too because we're going through an unusually violent thunderstorm which broke just as we were loading up the car to head out for a day on the beach!.. so between noisy fish and LOUD bone-shaking thunder, my nice normally placid Saturday is starting to resemble a Dean Koontz novel!

You should hear it when you pick it up out of the water with your hands, they start practically squeeling! I have a smaller type of talking cat though.

The spotted, striped and chocolate Raphaels aka talking catfish we had wer quite chatty when caught in a net. I didn't know how loud they could be. lol

I nearly dropped our poor fish on the floor when our spotted one when HAD croaked while I was moving a piece of driftwood he was in...I was looking for him and didn't know he was in there.

My Spotted is a big time "clicker". When I first heard it I thought my stand was giving out or something. Totally unexpected sound to come from your fishtank. He really gets cranky when you pull him out of the water.

lol, i'd love to have a tank of those guys.. watch our friends freak when the fish start doing that.

I have a striped raphael cat too. They are awsome looking cats. I rarely see mine tho. He only comes out at night to eat.
