hehe yes bh, and most tetras are infact shoaling fish, they find comfort in numbers but don't truely school for the most part. But they do school in very organized patterns and groups when they feel threatened. But for the most part they are a shoaling species. I find cardinals tend to school more then any other tetra I have owned, they will quite often peacefully swim in a large organized group in very tight patterns even when not under threat. And yes my neons and glowlights will shoal with them, but don't usually school with them.

I'm thinking glolite tetra myself, but I would want a better pic. My girlfriend and I have 5 of them, and they'll school with any tetra...we have 11 neons and glolites together and they school just fine.

If it weren't for the fact that I know better... I'd say ALL aquarium fishes are shoaling... they ARE after all ALWAYS in the same general area and never move away from each other....

pfwahahahahahahah (i know, lame.... boredom can be so cruel sometimes!)

Does that mean...they're learning well?? Ok...yeah, it's a BAD school joke, but then...I was hated school. :P LOL

I agree with Tom, that looks like a glowlight tetra. I just saw a cloud of them at the petstore. It could have been mixed in with the neons or cardinals at the petstore.

It may be hiding because it's feeling alone. Though there are other tetras, they might not be close enough for him to feel like he can school with them.

Don't worry, maybe you'll find something to do once you actually have a fish tank

Goldie has been coming out a little more, still darts to the back once he knows he's being watched but its nice seeing him swimming around. Hopefully we'll see more of him once I redo the tank (going with live plants this time) and get some friends for him. Still no luck with getting a nice picture though.

Is the black towards his tail normal (I haven't seen any pictures of glowlights with black)? He's always looked like that as far as I can remember but I'd rather ask and it be nothing.

And thanks I think I can remember the differance between a shoal and school now heh.
