My
LFS sometimes gets some pretty little fish they sell as "ricefish". If I remember correctly they are white in color with blue eyes, maybe around an inch long with a more flattened topline, but they swim in midwater. After doing some research I am interested in ricefish (genus Oryzias), but I can't find anything that looks like the fish at my lfs and I don't want to get any without a definate ID. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.
They look a bit like this fish but with bright, light blue eyes.

Well it seems as if they are japanese ricefish (Oryzias latipes).
http://www.fbas.co.uk/Oryzias%20lati...ith%20eggs.jpg The one in this picture definately has the same blue eyes. The reason I didn't think it was latipes before was because I saw several pictures of them as gray fish...apparently the white version is more common in the hobby. And apparently the blue eyes are just hard to photograph.
I have found more pics of them that show the blue eyes better. I think I will definately get some, if my lfs still has some. All I can really find on the web about them is size, water parameters, and breeding, so if anyone has any other info on them that would be great. Although, they sound pretty easy to care for, and can even live in cold water.
