| Algae Wafers What is the best way to feed your Oto's algae wafers? I have a fairly low algae tank right now, so I'm suplementing thier diet with some sinking wafers that they don't seem to be fond of at the moment. Do I break them into small pieces? Do I drop them in whole? is there a good placement in the tank for them? Thanks! |

Thanks! | what fish are in the tank with them? i would break the wafer in half and drop one in at feeding time in the AM & PM, removing the old piece when adding a new one. |

| Re: Algae Wafers The otos are in my danio tank. the danios have pecked at the wafer a bit, but the otos pretty much ignore it. maybe it's a sign that they are getting enough food from the environment? |

They'll usually have slightly rounded bellies when they're fed and i think they will stop eating when full. if they seem to be getting enough to eat, i don't think it would hurt to not put wafer pieces in at times.. maybe just drop a half in in the PM for night nibbling unless they seem to need more. |

My OTOs did the same thing as well. How long have you been feeding them Algae wafers? I found mine took a little while to get used to them. After feeding for about a week, they took to them like bees to honey!
I generally feed mine 1 wafer per day. You'll find that they will eat most of it at night - while your lights are off.
Keep persisting and good luck! |

I used Hakari sinking wafers and my bumblebee cat had no interest in them. I can tell as they sit and expand on the bottom of the tank and dont get eaten. i went and bought some top fin bottom feeder shrimp pellets yesterday. And Im hoping the lil guy will go for those. Ive had him for over a week now and I just dont see him eating, I sure hope he is finding something to eat before he decides to try one of the fish! yikes!! |

| Re: Algae Wafers I drop in an Algae wafer about every other night before I go to bed. Ive never actually seen anyone eating them but they are always gone by the next morning. I assume my Corys are the culprit but it could be the AFD to I guess.
I have a really low algae tank (the tank is never in sunlight), so I started to drop those in for my Corys and its worked really well. |
