Fish Food

Hi everyone,
I just need some info of fish food. Currently I have tropical fishes , including silver sharks, gourami, paradise fish, black widow, clown loaches and silver dollars. I have always been feeding them black worm, veges, tropical fish food flakes, pellets... they are all happy and never have any problems..
But 2 days ago, my friend bought me a bottle of fish food flakes for marine fish by accident. I have given some of those to my tropical fish... they seem like to eat the flakes.... just wondering is there any harm to the tropical fishes if i feed them flakes which the bottle says for marine fish..... cos i have found that the flakes analysis are roughly the same
here's the info for both bottles:
tropical: crude protein 44%; crude fat 5%; crude fiber 2%; moisture 8%; phosphorus 0.6%, ash 9%
marine: crude protein/rohprotein 44%; crude fat/ rohfett 5%; crude fibre/ rohfaser both 2.5%; crude ash/ rohasche both 11.2%

anyone out there can answer the question?
thanks

Re: Fish Food

I don't think that it would harm them, but it just might not be as good for them. The difference doesn't seem to be very much.

Re: Fish Food

Flakes are gr8 addition to each fish's diet. A few years ago I thought that flakes lower water quality (just because I have heard it from someone, I even don't know whom exactly), but I tried them once and my fish love them . When your fish love flakes, there is no doubt to use them no matter if they're for salt-water or freshwater species. Quality flakes must be full of vitamins... this is the most important aspect of every food.

Hi

There's actually no harm in feeding your fish diffent types of foods. Even if the foods weren't made specifically for your fish. For example, I feed my goldfish the goldfish flakes, tropical flakes, and frozen foods.

I do the same with my tropical fish. No food is wasted and the fish love it ...

In fact, many foods have the same nutritional value and ingredients ... despite what type of fish the label claims their for! 8)
