Food soaked in garlic.

I just got some garlic juice from the grociery store. I have dried bloodworms and I soaked them in the garlic. The fish loved it. My question is. How often can the fish have the garlic juice?

Hello Whisper. I think if you gave them garlic soaked food once or twice a week as a treat would be great. Too, you can add a drop or two into the tank itself. Garlic is an immune system booster. Not only is it good for the fish it's great for humans as well.
Glad to hear your fish enjoyed it!

when we "soak" the food does it need to turn mushy or are we just talking like a bit of soaking? like wetened flakes?

not sure id soak flakes in it..they will be mush when you add to the tank..its more for solid foods(pellets, freeze dried, or fresh/frozen ) unless you make your own

You can also buy foods now with garlic added.

Matt and several others make their own...that is cool too and fun. You can better target species that way for way and cheaper in the long run.

I use some UltraColor pellets...they have garlic in them. I soak them anyway to soften them but don't need to add anything....only occasioally do I soak the pellets in garlic juice.

It is 50/50 whether to soak or not. If I soak them to make them soft the fish gobble them down. When I don't soak they get to browse and feed...its a good thing too...probably more natural...but I'll soak anyway....mostly.

OK thanks everyone. I soak the dried bloodworm and tubiflex worms and they love it. Oh also. Would it be good to put a few drops into a fry tank? I have some tiger barb fry about 2 weeks old. Are they to young for it?
