Any special benfit on having crisps?

Now that my big jar of crisps are coming to an end; I was wondering if there was any advantage of having crisps over flakes? My friend got me into buying crisps claiming they were better for the fish. But, I haven't seen any difference between my crisps and my friends flakes.

Also if it helps the brand is tetramin crisps.

Thanx in advanced

Hello Peffico. Hope you're doing well. I use the Tetramin Crisps as well for my juvenile Silver Dollars. I've used them since I discovered them a while back and the fish seem to love them. I don't know that they are any better than flakes but I like them because they are thicker than flakes.

I also use the tetramin algae crisps and my fish love them. They are greedy and seem to love everything I give them so I cant tell if they like them better or not.

most of the tetra, wardley etc (popular brands) are made of waste(thats why they are so affordable) and although the fish love them, (fish like any food) they do not hold much nutrition ....so your crisps and her flakes, are just a sinking or floating difference...quality wise, they are the same ....heres a good thread to read

I give my fish the crisps and the flakes. One good thing about the crisps is they make less of a mess. There seems to be less waste since they are nice uniform pieces. With flakes when I get down to the bottom of a big can they are all crumbly. The last part of the flake can is great for fry though.

FWIW I typically crumble my flakes into tiny bits anyway. We have a slew of fish in a 47 gallon tall square tank, at or near the stocking limit, and don't have a waste problem, with one algae eater and one cory to clean up the bottom.

The reason I crumble the flakes is to make sure everyone can get some food, including the lower-dwelling tetras. We have eight danios now, and they are so quick that if I let the flakes sit on top of the water they will get the bulk of any feeding. The bigger fish don't seem to have any problems eating the smaller bites.

I just bought some color food, and was considering crisps. I didn't buy them because I read conflicting reports on just how much of a waste difference they make in practice, and also because I was worried they might float too much.
