I just placed my monthly order with Ken, this time i decided to ring home to see what he suggested for each of my fish rather than being overwhelmed with the choices. This is what he said for MY fish (yours maybe different).
Oscar (7-8")/Jaguar cichlids (7-12")/
JD (4-7") - He recommended the 5.5mm floating cichlid pellets (he gave me a choice of pellets or sticks, my personal preference is pellets) big enough for the biggest jag but the smaller JDs could also eat them with out struggling.
catfish (unknown sp. 12"), tire track eel (18"), cory cats, RTS, Synodontis eruptus - 9.5mm aquastable sinking pellet, They are a big pellet but don't break up very fast therefore they don't pollute the water as quick or sink into the gravel is what Ken told me.
BN's/L226/any pleco - Vegetable sticks with
calcium - apparently very popular with those breeding plecos, the added calcium seem to help produce healthier stronger fry. Also, earthworm sticks for the added protein ( i also got these as the tire track eel has a soft spot of earthworms to the point it use to be all he ate!)
I bought golden pearls for the
betta fry at 5-50 microns and for the JD/Jag/African cichlids at 200-300 microns (about the same size as BBS)
I always buy
spirulina flakes as i add them into the home made food we make, this time i bought the spirulina flakes with added garlic and paprika. I also bought the betta pellets to try and see how well my bettas do on these.
Wow 8lb of food to last the month not counting the home made food they get every morning!
I recommend ringing him, he is very helpful on the phone and knows all of the food he sells well if you are unsure of what to get.
Again the foods i mentioned above are what he recommended for MY fish with regard to size of pellet and choices in food.
