fish wont eat veggies

I gave my cichlids a piece of zucchini and they just looked at it like " what is THAT?" ! LOL ! Any ideas on how to get them to eat it ? I did mince some up and they ate it but wouldnt eat directly from the stick of veggie

I would not mince it, just slice it and leave it for a 1 day. It may take a few times before they realize its food for them.

ok-so I tried again-this time I blanched the zucchini like I read in other posts and put it in tank. One of my lil guys actually started munching on it right away ! The others are thinking about it !

I wouldnt put blanched veggies in there unless you do 2 gravel vacs a week..its a ton of waste that they just dont get to eat it all...leafed veggies make less of a waste and wont have a ton sitting in the subtrate turning to ammonia...

I guess maybe its the sort of thing you would want to do when they are very young, huh? I think I will try some lettuce and see if they like that better--or maybe some spinach !
