I've had many (well meaning) relatives pick me up a can of betta flakes for my fish however I really don't like them. Is there any sort of recipe that I can use to "improve" upon the humble betta flake? I hate to throw then out but they're mostly just sitting there right now and I'm almost out of betta pellets.

Hmm. What about not using them as an every day food, but a supplement. I would suggest soaking them in Vitachem or a garlic liquid, some sort of supplemental liquid to give them some extra boost to make it worth while that you're feeding them. (I know what you mean about not wanting to toss them.) :-) Hope it helps but I have a feeling you already do this..

id feed them to the other fish LOL ..but thats me(my kids are wicked)...flakes/pellets and my bettas = constipation ....and ive yet to see a flake food for bettas that was very good...although I do feed mine the spirulina flakes from kens now..and thank god they do ok with it!
