how much food per day?

hi everyone, its me again =) got a quick question, got mt fish eating again finally! he seems to be hungrier then ever, i have been feeding him daily a very small amount of pellets (i try to count them in the palm of my hand, about 10 pellets) and today i FINALLY got him to take a shrimp from my hand! i was just wondering how much food is appropriate, as i was told by the gentleman i purchased the fish from that i was over feeding. at the time , the fish was eating about 10 freeze dried shrimp daily. he is only about 3 or 4 inches. how many large size shrimp per day should i fed? is ten small pellets a day too much? i usually fast the fish for a day or two on the weekend as i have read it is good practice to do so. this may seem like a dumb question , but i really dont want to mess up with this beautiful fish anymore. please, any advice is appreciated. thank you very much as always!

fishies belly's are the size of one of their eyes...which isnt very big..so with that in mind, remember they will eat and eat forever and not just until they are full...so dont overfeed and im not sure what kind of fish it is, but 10 pellets does seem like too much ....and no an entire piece of shrimp isnt needed...an oscar wont eat that much ...(or they will but shouldnt)..just break off small pieces...

thanks shawnie =) i think i should ask my questions directly to you LOL since your usually the only one to answer =P so ten small sized pellets a day is too much? also, the shrimp aren't those nice plump fresh full sized ones, they are freeze dried little crunchy things, less than a half inch in length. im going to keep him on one of those every two days, also ill try to cut his pellets down to five a day.

I just logged on too

what kind of fish? im going to assume its not a huge one at 3 inches...and again as long as you remember their belly size, you will be fine..for a 3 inch fish, 10 pellets is way too much...you could end up with constipation issues ...as far as the freeze dried, for a 3 inch fih, one piece broke in half is good and then maybe 2-3 pellets a feeding...
