Frozen bloodworm "sheets"

This is for those of you who use these, instead of the cubes.

How on earth do you cut off pieces of it, without making a mess? Even if I use my ginsu knives the piece that comes off manages to spray bloodworm parts all over my kitchen counter when it breaks away. Do any of you have any tips? Or am I better off just buying the cubes? I would hate to waste what I have; but I am sick of bleaching my kitchen counter every time I use them.

I thought about heating the knife first in hot running water; but I thought this might not be good for me to do on a consistent basis, because I've obviously got to keep putting this thing back in the freezer, and I wasn't sure all the little "melted" edges wouldn't start to spoil.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

The first time I bought FBW, I bought the 'sheets' They're hard to manage aren't they? lol
I had the same problems you did and switched to the cubes. Between the frogs, bettas and other fish, I go through a cube in 2 days. Much easier!

Lucy- indeed! I thought this would be "easier." How wrong I was.

Shawnie- Oh snap! Good idea. I will do that from now on. The dedicated fish food ginsu knife is in RETIREMENT. *giggle*

I do have to say, I am a huge frozen food believer now. Now don't get me wrong, all my fish still get manufactured food; but they all go crazy for the bloodworms, especially the cories. I never see them as energetic as when they smell bloodworms in the water. Neptune still tries to chase them away from any other sinking food; but when it's the bloodworms they all put their butts in his face and won't let him in. I feed Neptune his bloodworms by hand at the top.

The bettas don't get them very often, but it's not for lack of wanting them! They are all completely oblivious to anything not right on the surface, and usually what I put in there sinks to the bottom while they are still furiously jumping out of the water for food. If they only would just wait a moment and use their EYES they would see the treats. So when I feel particularly patient, and feel like fishing the worms out and dropping them until they find them, they get them too.
