dont know if fish like food

hi all

im a beginner and have a new tank. In it are two male guppies.

im worried about feeding them though, whether its too little. i feed them twice a day, but even first thing in the morning, they dont seem to eat much at all. i put in a couple of flakes, they take a nibble or two then just sit there. i dont know if its that they have enough, or cant find the flakes again.

any ideas?

guppies are usually very pig like when it comes to eating..if they arent acting this way, id do a quick test for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates...do you know those readings?

its good to feed sparingly if you are still cycling..and yes it could play an effect..how many days since you used it?

A good rule of thumb to remember is the fishes stomach is usually about the size of their eyes (in most cases of small fish but not for all). Feed sparingly. Over feeding is a major cause of water problems and fish loss. They will eat when they get hungry. Good luck with your cycle and keep us posted.

i believe you are probably feeding them too. try feeding once a day, feed less and try breaking up the flakes into smaller pieces. good luck
