Make sure that the food your feeding him or her will get to the bottom, that's ware they feed. I get a coupple of high quality pellets. Google omega one fish food they make the best fish food out there " my opinion ". Hope this helps good luck.

oh, and also, say if i got one or two, what is the maximum you would pay for them? i've seem them for $30, bit expensive.

also, i heard they like company of their own kind. if i got 1 would he be comfortable with a tandanus catfish as a friend? or would he need a blood brother? they pretty much act the same, day shift, not a hiding fish, little piggies, swims all over etc.

I only paid around $7 for mine. I have 3 but they rarely hang out together. I use the sinking pellets and my guys are all huge, big rounded bellies.

how big is he? i know they get to about 6 or 7 inches but does yours ever attack or try and eat the smaller fish like you white clouds or mollies?

Mine are around 4-5" and yes, they will eat anything that will fit in their mouths. 5 out of 8 white clouds have disappeared over the last few months and I'm positive the pitcuses are the guilty ones.

When I had my Pictus cats they ate cichlid pellots....they usually came up to the surface and grabbed them quickly. Some pellots would float down and they would snatch them up too.
