When I used to have Balas, they didn't mind eating the freeze-dried bloodworms, but the really loved frozen bloodworms. I don't like feeding my freshwaters "baby shrimp" because it's most likely brine shrimp, and I think it's unnatural because brine shrimp are saltwater invertebrates. But EH, it's only my opinion.. I'm not a fish pro

tetra brand foods are alot of the leftover waste of bi products and although widely available and not very expensive, they arent very nutritional...very popular by demand tho...although I feed 90% live or frozen foods, I do use freeze dried krill from omega ...sometimes with the freeze dried foods, its good to soak a little bit in some fresh garlic juice so they expand in the juice and not the fish bellies...goodluck!

Good morning. I too use freeze dried Krill, presoaked as a special treat. (San Francisco Bay brand) It's been a big hit in my tanks. Every morning when I feed my fish I show them the canister. I also use some dried pellets and sinking waffers but none are Tetra brand. I declare they know when they are going to get Krill. They start splashing and I usually get soaked when I open the lid of the tank. Whereas when I feed dry pellets, they aren't as excited. Just thought I'd share this.

cool. i feed frozen bloodworms once or twice a week, just saw the "gammarus" baby shrimp and thought it might be cool to change it up.

where/how can you get ahold of live daphnia? or grow it? i don't mind reading, so if you have a good link, let me know.

i just feel like my angels are always on the hunt for some little thing to eat that is on my driftwood and there isn't anything there for them.

Hawk, It sounds like your angels may be cleaning off a breeding spot to lay eggs. I don't know how old they are but cleaning is a stage of spawning. Keep you eye on them
If you'll go to the top right hand side of this screen, you can do a search for Daphnia and I'm sure you'll find some helpful information there.

I have bought both the dried shrimp and blood worms. All my fish like them, platys, mollys, jack dempseys and gourami. The blood worms seem to be their favorite and I usually have some on hand for them as a snack. The shrimp worked better for my jacks as their mouths are bigger. However, the shrimp seem to leave more of a mess because of the shells.

I have noticed, with the blood worms, there is sometimes little pieces of black plastic or little pieces of what looks like wood or paper mixed in usually at the bottom of the container.
