Problems with Zucchini

i recently started giving my BN pleco zucchini about 4 days ago. he's been enjoying it but there is a few problems. my clown loach eats the zucchini before the BN does, the goldfish up roots it, it floats around to much, my new (got it 3 days ago) albino BN pleco isn't eating it and i'm worried that the plastic fork might be slowly poisoning the tank. is it harmful to fish?

i heard blanching it makes it sink, true or false? how do i blanch it?

how do i stop my goldfish from uprooting it?

how do i get my clown loach to stop eating the zucchini?

does the zucchini fowl the tank? i leave it in for about 24 hours then replace it.

thanks

Blanching: Makes veggies softer and easier for the fish to eat. Boil it for a few minutes but not so long that it turns into mush.

There are veggie clips at the LFS that attaches to the glass.

When I feed my fish the food is there for everyone. Let the clown loaches eat it also if they desire.

Removing it after 24 hours should be fine. It will fowl the tank if you don't remove it.

The plastic fork should not cause any problems in your tank as far as water chemistry is concerned.

Hello Cichlidsmad...I'm not sure. I haven't read anything concerning pH and veggies. I would say any type of food left in the tank for too long will have some adverse effects on pH levels.

try putting it in at night. the clown loach will have a harder time finding it. or put in more then one piece. also and easy way to blanch it is to put it in the microwave covered with water for a few min. when it starts to look slightly transparent, or its no longer white its done. let it cool completly before you add it to the tank, of course. before i add it to the tank i like to let it sit in a cup of tank water to help the temp. if your gunna blanch it. cut up a whole zucchini, blanch it and then freeze it. you can thaw what you need in the fridge overnight or durring the day while your gone so its ready to add that night. makes things easier. good luck!!
