Freeze Dried Tubifex Worm disintegration

Without mentioning the brand name so as not to make a "judgment call" about someone. Has anyone ever had their jar of cubed dried worms start to turn to dust where the cubes seem to be breaking up in the jar on there own? It seem like every time I go to fetch a cube there is more and more powdered worms inside like they are getting buried more and more. The expiration just says 5/11 but no year that I can make out and I just bought it at Pet Smart January of this year. I'm worried that giving the dust to my fish will get them sick if bacteria is present.
Take a look and tell me what you think cause I haven't a clue? maybe bacteria breakdown?

Ew, from a human stand point they look terrible. lol Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question.

I did want to point out that usually when there's a date like 5/11 it usually means month and year. May 2011.

I'm sure others who feed Tubifex worms can help.

Mine have done that if any moisture gets in the container. I haven't had any problem with feeding the dust though. My fishies still gobble them up with no problems and no illness. I try to be real careful now about any moisture (even a bit of extra humidity) getting in the container. I usually leave the little packet in that absorbs the extra moisture just to be on the safe side. It's almost like they start to reconstitute and come apart from the cubes, but there is not enough moisture for them to fully reconstitute, so they just sort of blob out.

Wow that makes perfect sense and I have been using wet fingers on occasion, you know how it is water here water there lol. I guess I better start using tweezers or chop sticks to take them out then close that jar, thanks!

I usually just shake out one or two so I'm not putting my fingers in the bottle.
