I use to give mine a pellet mixed that I found at petsmart called Cichlid Attack. Now I make my own mix of frozen peas, broccoli, shrimp, spirulina brine shrimp, vitamins, and unflavored gelatin. here is the treat for it.

Are the fish in question herbivores? You need to check this. If you feed a high protein diet that can cause malawi bloat.

For our mbuna we feed hikari cichlid excel, for the carnivores we make our own vegetable/beef heart mix and supplement with hikari cichlid staple.

For the herbavores, I also feed the Omega One Veggie Flakes The fish love them. I also suppliment the flakes with Omega One Cichlid Pellets, Frozen Brine Shrimp, and Blood Worms.

Stop the bloodworms!!
Unless you are keeping malawi haps or peacock cichlids they need a very low protein diet. OSI makes a spirulla flake that is good, and a reg cichlid color enhancing flake.

Or just order foods from kens fish. He has specialty foods for fish diet needs. I get the veggie flakes and spirulla flakes for my fish, the fry crumbles for my fry. Then I rotate in fresh veggies (THEY LOVE VEGGIES zuchinni, romaine lettuce, etc).
