I read somewhere that you shouldn't feed Ryukin floating flakes, that you should soak them. Why is this. My fish seem to like feed at the top. My one will clean the bottom afterwards but the other will not. He just waits eagerly at the top. I've also found that soaking my flakes and pouring them in makes a bigger mess in my tank.

Could somone please explain why I should not float my flakes?

goldfish often swallow air when they gulp food from the waters surface. they are prone to swim bladder diseases and swallowing air will make them bloated and increase their susceptibility. Its best to sink their flakes by soaking them so they don't make themselves sick
