Algae discs

So now that I know I can not keep a placo in my 10 gal tank, I have left over algae discs from before he died, Will the fish eat them and are they safe. Usually the fish get fed fish flakes, I know about the veggies, and I have seen some other things like bloodworms and such. And if so how many should I give them?
Thanks
Tina

My fish love to munch on them. I usually drop one or a half of one in every other night or so.

I wouldn't put them in. I have learned form past experience with these that they disperse and make the tank's water cloudy, unless you have a really awesomw mechanical filter, I would just chuck em' -fishlover78

I've really had no problems with the "Hikari" brand of algae discs... the fish like them and they are very nutritious so i say, if they dont make your water cloudy... replace a meal for one of them every once in a while!

Right. I tried another brand, but the disc just basically disintegrated into dust and fouled the tank. The Hikari brand doesn't do this and keeps it's shape!

I use Omega One veggie rounds and all my fish eat them. Since you don't have a pleco I wouldn't add as much. Maybe break one into quarters and feed a couple of those 2 or 3 times a week. They definately won't hurt your other fish.

I use the omega one also...and another thing I do is throw one or two in the tank if I go away for a few days...but deffinately keep an eye on water parims if using them without a pleco...
