Fish diet Variety

I just picked up a small jar of Freeze-Dried Bloodworms to help vary our fishes diet. Oddly enough, they're 'recommended' for betta's but our betta's won't eat them! Our betta's are actually very picky, and I have yet to find a food they love. Our Danios go crazy over them, and our one platy who never shows much interest in flakes likes them too. The other platies don't care. I'm just wondering what other steps I should take to give them a balanced diet. I've heard peas are recommended, but how should they be prepared? just raw? Out of a can, or frozen?

Any other steps I should be taking? I was reading the beginner articles, and they say to "vary" the diet, but no specifics are given. Any recommendations on percentages of each type of food?

I use canned peas. When I'm having them for dinner i save 4 or 5 and rinse them in plain water, peel them and feed the Bettas about a half. The rest of the fish like them also.
Most times when you feed new foods to the fish they don't know their food so they don't eat them. Don't give up on the freeze dried blood worms.
My Bettas eat flakes, frozen foods as well as freeze dried foods.

You used canned peas, and you take of the skin around the outside, and for smaller fish, you can cut the peas in half. You have to wait a while before the fish realise they can eat the new type of food...but if they don't eat it within a couple of hours it should be taken out, before it polutes the tank water x

my bettas are picky spoiled brats...they wont eat anything freeze dried...plus im afraid of them bloating and getting constipated LOL ...all my fishes eat omega flakes on my lazy days, other wise its frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, beef heart (for my cichlids)...my plecs get a piece of zucinni or cukecumber once a week...when it rains I catch worms for the cichlids also...

Thanks for all the advice. My Betta's will try foods... so far I've fed them Tetra Tropical Fish Granules, Top-fin Betta Bits, and Freeze Dried Bloodworms, and with all of them they taste it, chew on it, and then spit some back out...
