Flakes Vs Crisps: What's the difference?

What IS the difference between crisps and flakes? (Besides size, color, and other visual differences)

Personally, I give my fishies both. Although they are quite spoiled, I have a variety of foods for them. (When I come to that tank at feeding time, they won't know what to expect!)

I think crisps are more like chips, harder and more solid than flakes. I've never used any though.. and we try to get New Life Spectrum foods or at least Omega One foods for the dry foods.

Okay. Any difference in ingredients, or will one be more healthy for a fish than another?

I think that just varies from brand to brand, so checking & comparing labels for ingredients and nutrition information is a must.

Okay. The ones I have are Tetra brand, and the flakes came in the tank kit and the crisps were bought at a very good fish store.

I am curious about this theme since you post it. Decided to wait and see what others had to say. (I think I posted on this thread but it got lost due to "the glitch" Mike solved allready)

I have and use both. In fact I have a wide variety of fish food that I alternate randomly. Flakes I have three different types (regular allegedly color-enhancer, plancton based, algae based). Crisps only one. I read here that it's good for the fish to alternate, so maybe they end up being the same (in terms of ingredients) but crisps go to the bottom quicker, and flakes get easily dispersed with strong filter output (I turn the HOB off for a few minutes when feeding flakes).

I have the Tetra Crisps that were the 3 different types in one (green, red, orange). I REALLY liked the Crisps a lot better as it was harder to overfeed with them. They recommend 1 crisp per inch of fish. The only downfall (if you have smaller fish) is that sometimes they are harder for them to eat and they have to pick at them instead. (happened with my neons).
I usually feed the crisps, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, and veggies to my fish on a rotation, so anything the crisps may lack is made up with the other foods.
