Feeding Veggies

I want to give my algae eaters a varied diet with zuchinni as a supplementary treat. Is there anything I need to know before giving the veggies to them. I'm guessing first of all it has to be organic, right?

Nope ..it doesnt have to be organic..I feed my guy cukes, zuccinni, and lettuce..I just make sure they are peeled and boiled a lil bit then I hang them on a clip..leave for 24 hours then I remove the leftovers, if there is any LOL

I hear both bristlenosers and flyers will eat them, true? Should I change the diet by using cucumbers and romaine lettuce every now and again?

I give them a quick 8-10 second trip in the microwave to soften them some without really cooking them.

It's good to make sure the veggies are washed and cleaned properly before putting it into your tank for the eaters.

If it's not organic, then it's best to peel the slices or there's a chance of chemicals/pesticides getting into the water.

I live right by a place that sells everything organic, from fruit and veggies to potato chips even

I usually peel them anyways.
My parents used to have a big pleco and the peel got stuck around his neck once.
If you dont peel, and least cut a little section out.

Wow that would be a little freaky when you wake up in the morning. I am guessing that he/she was ok though.

i've started putting in cucumbers. I've been boiling them for a few minutes, should i only be blanching them? They're mainly for my otta cats.

we peel a chunk and rubber band it to a rock on the bottom so the plecos and bottom feeders get it. although everyone in the tank seems to pick at it.
